Watchtower illegitimacy. Personally I think that bouncing straight out of the Watchtower and into another religion is like starting a relationship on the rebound. What's the rush?

Which came first for you? Watchtower illegitimacy, or a compelling alternative?

A Born ins challenge to develop a "post cult" personality.
by stuckinamovement ina born ins challenge to develop a post cult personality.. mentally leaving the organization can be traumatic for a number of reasons.
one of the biggest challenges for born-ins in finding their pre cult personality is that our entire personalities are based on the religion.
there is no such thing as a pre cult personality for us.

Steven Unthank: What do we really know?
by SweetBabyCheezits ini'm gonna play the skeptic today on a topic that is painful for a lot of people on this forum.
my intent is not to stir anything up but to make sure facts are confirmed.
bear in mind, i'm sickened by the wt's role (and the heirarchy down to elders) in child molestation cover-ups.

Interesting.
I've had serious reservations about this for a while. I couldn't put my finger on it until the past couple of 'press releases'.

What could trigger a large proportion of JWs at once that this religion is a scam
by Mr Facts ini am just thinking if there could ever be anything that would raise consciousness in the minds of millions of jws that this a completely hoax.
what could spark millions of them at once, any thoughts?..

I'm afraid history has shown us that nothing can cause such a reaction among JWs. Really big things (1975, the Rutherford power struggle) have happened in the past and they did not cause a mass exodus or anything like that.
Except all those things happened before the advent of the internet. A proper scandal (not like the UN thing which is a bit of a non-issue IMO) in the nternet era could have serious repercussions for the society. Things no longer occur in a vacuum.

the Ireland branch--> issues over the years
by WildeLover inhi all.
the irish branch has had lots of drama over the years from john may in the 1980s to the recent removal of practically all the branch committee in the mid noughties to its being closed down quite recently.. i heard on the grapevine that two of the branch committee had actually come to physical blows and there was blood on the carpet.. also many many witnesses spoke of the totalitarian environment there.. does anyone have anything further to corroborate or add to this?.

The gun is the SHUN: the JW's who no longer believe but cannot leave!
by Terry inthe insidious bind the watchtower religion places on their members is unconscionable.. holding family and friends "hostage" as an extortion strategy may be their most potent weapon of enforced conformity.. .
in effect, like an armed criminal who points a gun at you and threatens "your money or your life", the watchtower leadership.
holds the power to separate dissenting members from those whom they most cherish.

Well I took that gun right off them and shot my own foot. I'd rather be wounded and free than live like that.

time heals much pain, and finally, my family and i have been able to move on with our life outside of jw land.. many of you became our friends, our support system, and you know very well our exit story...we were labeled, slandered and disfellowshipped for having questions regarding the date 607. we sent out letters exposing the elders and circuit overseer to over 200 families.

Marvellous news. Do you know Lady Liberty you were the very first person I received a PM from here on JWN. This is what you wrote to me:
Dear Mickey Mouse,
Sorry I am just now replying to your message. I have been away from the forum for a while, and was shocked to see I had 8 missed messages. So now I am playing catch up. I am glad our story has been useful to you. Sometimes it's just nice to know you are not alone! Hang in there!
Sincerely,
Lisa/Lady LibertyThank you for updating your story.
